Dr. Jim Underwood

Jim Underwood is a professor, an author, a consultant, and is a leading expert in the field of chaotics and strategy.  His clients include IBM Corporation, Sprint PCS, McKesson Pharmaceuticals, and Nortel Networks.  He served as the Global Strategy Content Expert for the Learning Institute of a leading international technology company for five years.

Jim is a frequent speaker at corporate meetings and CEO roundtables.  He has also been featured on numerous radio and television broadcasts in the U.S. and Canada.

He is the author of seven books, including Thriving In E-Chaos which won the International Competia Award 2001, and More Than A Pink Cadillac, a New York Times, Wall Street Journal best selling book.  He has also authored articles in major publications and journals.  Jim has appeared on a number of national and regional radio and television programs.

Jim holds a BBA, MBA, MA (Theology) and DBA (with distinction) degrees.  Prior to entering academia, he had a career in banking.

His work focuses on the field of “chaotics” and disruption.  As a result of supervising graduate level research on over 150 Fortune 500 companies (plus his personal research), Jim developed a number of management assessment tools that facilitate and enhance the ability of an organization to execute strategy (LSI; ISI).  His current research is focused on PEQ (emotional intelligence and performance intelligence) and leadership.

Jim has served on the Board of Directors of an AMEX listed company where he was on the Audit committee and chaired the Governance committee.  He continues to serve as the Chairman of the Board of a non-profit organization that has a mission to help profoundly distressed peoples around the world, especially victims of childhood slavery.

Jim and his wife Patsy live in Southlake Texas with their two Golden Retrievers.  His hobbies include road biking and recreational target shooting.
